MGR began in 1978 as a club for single people (i.e. single by virtue of bereavement, divorce or never married). Since then MGR has been developed into a successful club of more than 200 lively people with wide ranging interests and backgrounds. This means you are likely to find a number of kindred spirits. Inevitably, over the years, many have formed rewarding and enriching partnerships. Those who marry or enter committed relationships maintain their friendships through our affiliate group MGR Associates.
The club is run by its members for the members on a non-commercial basis. This means that members are charged only the cost of an event. Each member is expected to arrange at least two events a year.
Our aim is to provide opportunities for members to get out and about, to make new friends, share common interests, participate in or start new activities and through friendship to help each other.
MGR is run by a management committee (elected at Annual General Meetings) who strive to ensure the ongoing success and development of the club. Each month a comprehensive programme of events is planned, organised and then published in a Newsletter and Programme. On the last Tuesday of each month MGR has a Club Night where members can socialise and collect their new Newsletter and Programme from their dedicated Area Contact. New and Prospective Members are introduced to other members at Club Night.
